What a delight that honey makers from Sequim, Washington, called Sequim Bee Farm, are finalists for the 2016 Good Food Awards. Sequim is known for exquisite, expansive lavender fields (of course known for a lavender festival). The honey must be amazing.
Sequim is where I discovered that I can get sick of the smell of lavender. Before spending a day at the festival, a few years back, I never thought that possible. Same happened at an olive oil festival. Of course, with both of these, I fell back in love the next day.
All Hail the Hairy Bee!
Back to the almighty bees. Science Friday episode about the purpose of bee hair — of which they have as much as a squirrel — made me appreciate this miraculous pollinator more than before.
The story shows why it is so important to save the bees. If the bees die, life will be a lot less sweet.
