A little Italian bird recently railed against Italian coffee. The synopsis: all bad. Baristas don’t know anything. According to him and his sources anyway! I’ve never complained.
But now from Illycaffè’s mouth, they are undertaking a coffee hackathon in Menlo Park and at Harvard. Who wouldn’t want to partake in brainstorming on a “broad spectrum of topics from enriching café culture to innovative business models within the coffee industry.”
Would that I were in college! (Need convincing? “The teams with the most promising ideas will be awarded with a paid summer internship in Italy along with the opportunity to accelerate their ideas and be part of a global innovations team at illy headquarters.”)
Food hackathons lead to unexpected and awesome innovations in all parts of the food system. What will a coffee hackathon lead to? A tide change in Italian coffee?

Coffee? I’m in!
